Pioneering portable biosampling

Monitoring fluctuating levels of body-chemistry is crucial for the assessment of biological rhythms - but traditionally difficult to do outside of a clinical setting. For the first time, we can sample biochemistry from subjects as they go about their everyday life (& undisturbed sleep)

New insights into what makes us tick

24-Hour dynamic testing in everyday life

To date it has been impossible to capture important information about multiple biorhythms without a stay in hospital. With our U-RHYTHM portable collection device, biochemical profiles can be collected throughout a normal day and night with no discomfort or disruption to the U-RHYTHM wearer

Robust and reproducible sampling

Biochemical samples are collected through a tiny catheter inserted under the abdominal skin. The device exploits air-bubble fractionation technology to gather samples as frequently as every 10-20 minutes over 24-72 hours. Samples are analysed using state of the art LC-MS and proteomics techniques

minimally invasive microdialysis

The device utilises microdialysis catheter technology to extract biochemistry from interstitial fluid - not blood. This minimally invasive method means that U-RHYTHM is suitable for neonates, infants and critically ill patients that are vulnerable to infection and/or have a low circulating blood volume

Tissue-level bio-sampling

Only free (un-bound) biochemicals are extracted and analysed. This provides much better insight into the activity of the biochemical(s) of interest at a tissue level. And, as not restricted to the subcutaneous tissue of the waist, the microdialysis catheter can be inserted into all tissue types
